Frequently Asked Questions
Not sure what type of bin you need or how the process works? These common questions might help you plan with ease:
What size skip bin should I hire?
Choosing the right bin depends on how much waste you're removing and what type it is. A 3m³ skip bin suits small clean-ups or garden jobs, while a 6m³ or 8m³ is better for renovations or building waste. It’s important to match your waste type to avoid overfilling or contamination fees.
What can I put in a mixed waste skip bin?
Mixed waste bins can handle most general building and renovation waste, like plasterboard, timber, plastic, metal, and packaging. However, you can’t put in hazardous materials, soil, food waste, or stone benchtops. Weight limits apply to larger bins, so check the guidelines to avoid excess charges.
How long can I keep the skip bin?
With Viking Skip Bin Recycling, you can keep your bin for up to 6 weeks, at no extra cost. This makes it easier for longer projects or weekend-only work. If you need it gone sooner, just give us a call and we’ll pick it up when it suits you.
