Frequently Asked Questions
Thinking about hiring a skip bin in Kiama? These FAQs answer common questions to help you plan your project with confidence.
What’s the best bin size for household clean-ups?
For small to medium home projects, a 3m³ skip is usually enough. For larger renovations or yard work, a 6m³ bin provides extra room. If you're dealing with bulky or heavy waste like timber, concrete, or mixed materials, an 8m³ bin may be more appropriate. Choose a bin based on volume and weight guidelines.
Can I hire a skip bin for concrete only?
Yes. Concrete bins are available specifically for concrete, bricks, tiles, and asphalt—nothing else. These bins are recycled on-site in Dunmore. Contamination with other materials can result in the bin being charged as mixed waste. Always confirm your load type before booking to avoid errors and added fees.
What happens if I go over the weight limit?
Some bins—especially mixed waste options—have weight limits. If your bin exceeds the allowance, you may incur a pro rata charge per additional tonne. These charges vary depending on your provider’s rate. It's important to estimate load weight accurately, particularly for building materials or demolition debris.
